Cameron Memorial Community Hospital had its roots in two Angola hospitals. Cameron Memorial Hospital was founded in 1926 by Dr. Don F. Cameron. Elmhurst Hospital was established by Dr. Lester L. Eberhart in 1945. In 1972 the two hospitals were merged as one hospital, with the combined facility located at its present site at 416 East Maumee Street in Angola, Indiana. Cameron Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access general community hospital. It is not governmental, and there is no tax support. Cameron is a not-for-profit facility.
Through the years we have helped generation after generation enjoy better health and live comfortably. Our hospital continues to serve the medical needs of our community.
Over the years we have continually enhanced the way we deliver healthcare. The physicians and staff of Cameron Hospital care for and about our community, and will continue to strive for excellent in healthcare.
Our community continues to grow. Several of our downtown business have recently finished second and in some cases third floor renovations to allow for more downtown housing. Our thriving downtown is home to antique stores, excellent local eateries, fun events and unique gift shops you won?t find anywhere else. Another new housing addition is in the beginning stages of being developed on the north end of town and a few new multi-family housing units have recently been constructed. A new hotel will be opening at the end of May 2019 next to our newly developed Innovation Park where I69 and US 20 meet. With the calls we continue to receive from proven developers we expect to see our momentum escalate in the next three to five years.
Our excellent city services continue for our citizens from all departments. Outside of maintaining, plowing and cleaning our streets, we are also seeing reconstruction of city streets and new curb being placed each year. Our utility departments have done a great job forecasting growth and have planned well for upcoming underground infrastructure projects while continuing to maintain our high standard of water and sewer services. Our Police and Fire Departments are a great team and despite being very busy, respond quickly to calls and do a tremendous job keeping our community safe. Our Park?s Department continues to add new events each year and do a great job maintaining our beautiful parks and trails for our local residents and visitors.

The Pokagon club is based in Angola and includes all of Steuben County. This active club hosts a golf outing each year, along with an annual picnic and other activities. They are one of the larger groups bringing children to the Shrine Circus.
