Join us for the 2025 Corporate Toboggan Speed Challenge at Pokagon State Park, on
Thursday, December 4th!

Are you up for the challenge? The Annual Corporate Toboggan Speed Challenge event on Thursday, December 4th is quickly approaching, but there is still time to register a team or sponsor the event.  This early December event pits teams of four racers against each other in contests of speed, enthusiasm, and downhill determination on the area’s only refrigerated Toboggan track.  There will be bonus points for teams that come dressed up in costume. We will leave the costume theme up to you, it could be anything from 70's disco attire to the latest superhero trend costumes! This year we will be having a tailgating party throughout the event, the Chamber will be providing pizza and wings, and we encourage you to join in the tailgating party. Teams will get 3 runs with the fastest team taking the traveling trophy home! There will also be a prize for the best costume!

This is a chance to capture the coveted bragging rights for your business of Fastest Sled or Best Costume (bonus points to teams who are dressed in Themed Costumes) while showing off your mad sledding skills, having fun, bolstering camaraderie, and raising funds to support the mission of the                                                         Angola Area Chamber of Commerce and continue to offer valuable programs and services to our members. This event is made possible by the help and partnership with Pokagon State Park
The event starts at 5 p.m. with tailgating set-up starting at 4:30 p.m.

Tibbits Opera House invites you to experience the magic of the holidays as The Wizards of Winter bring their hard-rocking, family friendly, Christmas extravaganza to the stage on Saturday, December 6, at 3 p.m.

The Wizards of Winter originated with husband and wife team Scott (composer, keyboards) and Sharon (lead vocals/flute) Kelly in 2010, and over the intervening decade plus has grown into a nationally touring Christmas holiday rock opera, delighting audiences of all ages. Tibbits is excited to bring this singular musical experience to Coldwater.

In the course of this live experience, The Wizards of Winter explores the meaning of Christmas through original compositions, classic Christmas carols, and more, using a blend of keyboards, flutes, saxophone, violin, guitar, bass, and Broadway-caliber vocals.

“If you enjoyed the music and pageantry of Siberian Solstice, or if you enjoy Trans-Siberian Orchestra, then you will love The Wizards of Winter,” said Tibbits Executive Director Christine Delaney. “We are incredibly excited to bring an act of this magnitude to the Tibbits stage.”

In total, The Wizards of Winter lists 12 performers on their website, who have performed with acts like Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, appeared on NBC’s “The Voice” and on Broadway, to name a few, and Vicki Lynn, with Entertainment Weekly described their performance as “the ultimate holiday playlist.”

As a proud member of the Coldwater community, Tibbits also wants to make sure that people don’t have to choose between this fantastic live show and the yearly holiday parade, set for Saturday evening. With that in mind, Tibbits has chosen to make this show a matinee performance with a 3:00 p.m. start time, so audience members will be able to attend both. Make it a delightful day of holiday cheer and merrymaking magic in beautiful downtown Coldwater!

Tickets for The Wizards of Winter range from $25-$54, including fees, with discounts available for Tibbits members. The performance will be held at the historic Tibbits Opera House, 14 S. Hanchett St in Coldwater, MI. Doors to the lobbies, art gallery and Ghost Light Bar will open at 2 p.m., with seating beginning at 2:30 p.m. The concert will begin at 3:00.

From the theatre’s opening in 1882, touring artists have been offered for the community. Tibbits continues the tradition with a season of concerts, cultural events, movies and other such programs for all ages.

For tickets to The Wizards of Winter and information on other events at Tibbits, visit Tibbits.org, stop at Tibbits administrative offices at 93 W. Chicago St. in Coldwater, or call 517.278.6029.

The Tibbits Film Series continues the following Saturday, December 20, with the 2024 film “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Based on the 1971 book by Barbara Robinson, the film follows the Herman children, six awful kids who are known around town for being brutish bullies. When they get cast in the church’s Christmas pageant, everyone assumes disaster, but could it actually be the best Christmas pageant ever? Tibbits invites audiences to find out for themselves with this hilarious film about the true spirit of Christmas. The film begins at 2:00 p.m., with a pizza party and Christmas treats at 1:00 p.m. in the Ghost Light Bar. As with “The Polar Express,” tickets to the movie are by donation, while the pizza party is $5 at the door.
