Celebrate Friday the 13th in all of its creepy, haunted glory with the annual Monster Fest at Tibbits Opera House.
Silicon Heartbeat opens the night with music influenced by the classic B-horror films of the 50s and 60s. The Kalamazoo based synth-funk-punk band takes the stage at 8:30 pm.
Then “Jason Lives” at 9 pm with the showing of the 1986 film “Friday the 13th, part six: Jason Lives.” After years of being tormented by memories of being stalked by the infamous Jason Voorhees, Tommy Jarvis tracks down Jason's grave to finally prove to himself that Jason is in fact dead. However, a sudden lightning strike resurrects Jason to which he once again begins another murder spree at Camp Crystal Lake, now known as Camp Forest Green. Failing to convince the authorities that Jason has returned from the grave, it's now up to Tommy to stop Jason all by himself. “Jason Lives” is considered a fan favorite of the series partly because of its dark humor and instances of breaking the fourth wall.
Scaredy Cats Paranormal closes the evening with an authentic ghost hunt after the film. The Michigan-based paranormal investigation duo, composed of twin sisters Mindy and Megan Young, will take those wishing to experience this ghostly search, on a tour through the theatre to discover just how haunted it might be. This is not a gimmick-filled evening, it’s a legitimate investigation with real instruments to measure paranormal activity. Scaredy Cats has been exploring haunted buildings throughout the region and are extremely excited to explore the historic Tibbits Opera House.

In this witty film noir fairytale spoof, Fairytale Land has been hit by a crime wave. The Three Bears’ home was broken into. The Three Little Pigs’ homes were destroyed. Now Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother is missing. The crimes seem unrelated, at least if you listen to those shady Grimm brothers. But could an evil mastermind be behind them all? Something punny is going on! Only hard-boiled detective Rumpelstiltskin and his wise-cracking partner Ugly Duckling can solve this wacky case.
