About The Farm Place, Inc.
The Farm Place, Inc. (The Farm) was founded in 2016 by a faith-based group of individuals who saw the need to provide a place where children in the foster system could receive care, with the added benefit of comfort animals. The Farm raised enough money to purchase ten acres of land north of LaGrange on State Rd. 9, then raised enough money to build a three-story, 3,500 sq. ft., eight-bedroom, handicap-accessible home. Several foster families were interviewed as candidates to live in the home (rent free), and in March of 2020 the candidate we selected moved in. Since then more than 40 children have passed through its doors.
We are now raising funds to build the Animal Companionship Center (ACC). The ACC will be situated adjacent to, but separate from, the foster home. It will contain a conference room, meeting rooms, and a barn with stables where comfort animals (goats, dogs, cats, etc.) will be kept. The ACC will be available at no cost to northeast Indiana professionals (e.g., DCS, Bowen Center, Northeastern Center, etc.) for court-ordered visitations, family re-unifications, life skills training, and more. The property will also feature walking trails and fenced pastures. We expect to begin construction in April, 2022.
